Gangwon-do
The Countryside
Gangwon-do's Beauty
After all of this talk about cities, food, and the ocean, let's take a break and talk about the beautiful countryside of Gangwon-do. In the specific place of Korea, where I would go most is my boyfriend's grandmother's house. Her house is near a huge mountain, which, inside, contains a coal mine that is now a tourist attraction. Many people come and go, but at the end of the day, that mountain remains quiet and empty. In front, cats are walking around looking for their next meal, and bats are flying around above. The quiet and clarity of the nights show the stars that you may not have been able to see in the city. The peace of the night encapsulated Gangwon-do.
Nearby, there is a stream that was made into a natural well, and it produces water locals call Medicine water. The high iron content in the water makes the water carbonated and extremely healthy to drink if you lack iron. Many people come to this secret, hidden gem to nourish themselves after a hot summer day. Next to this well, there is a stream where you can swim, and it has slippery rocks you can slide down and fish there that nibble your legs. This ice-cold water rejuvenates your soul. I would recommend anyone to visit this small countryside town to discover the secrets hidden within that only locals know.
